Phew, we have the seed order done and in to the various seed houses which we order from. Now we just wait to see those boxes arrive on the porch. We have something like 160 different varieties of crops this year! We are excited to fine tune our crop mix and work on having more variety and more consistency in our offerings, and that means having different varieties of crops which do better in the various weather conditions of spring, summer, fall, and winter here. It should be a tasty year! We also trial a large number of varieties constantly to see which ones do best in our soil and climate. Well we are not really just waiting around for packages, we are getting stuff done to get ready for this upcoming year. The CSA programs are now open to the public and we expect to have a great response due to the huge interest in the farm this year. So if you would like to be a part of the farm's CSA programs check out the links to the left, we are accepting applications right now. In other exciting news I harvested spinach from the cold frame today and we will be at the Be Local Winter Market tomorrow Saturday Feb 12 from 10am till we sell out. The Winter Markets are in the opera galleria on College Ave in Ft. Collins, we will also be there to answer questions about the CSA's and get the good word out. It is amazing that the spinach survived that negative 20 degree night about a week ago, so it has to be good. So come by and say hi, pick up some spinach, and ask us any questions you have about the CSA and our farm. Look for us at the Ela Family Farms stand as we are sharing their space. They also have some great tasty storage apples for sale as well. See ya soon! Nic |
