Well it happened. We got all the alliums in the ground at the new farm. Literally thousands upon thousands of little onions transplants. Our storage variety Copra takes up most of the space but we have a red onion and walla walla sweet onions as well. We also planted both red and yellow cippolini and red shallots and tons of leeks. We had a whole crew out both friday and saturday to get the job done and it was great to see a bunch of people happily working in the field chatting and laughing away. I think all fields should be filled with laughter and community like ours are. We are so lucky to have such great friends in all of our farm members, volunteers, and interns that help make this farm work. On a different note we were able to really get down on our hands and knees and get to know the soil at our other farm location and it has a very nice texture and I hope will be a pleasure to work with. Thanks for the rain dance as well, looks like we got snow, but it was some great moisture none the less. Thanks. Today we are seeding many of the first round of curcurbits in the greenhouse which means our various winter squash varieties, cucumbers, summer squash, zucchini, and pickling cucumbers. We will be at the Drake Road Farmers Market this weekend from 10 am till 1 pm selling fresh spring greens and french breakfast radishes so drop by and get some super fresh food. Off to plant! See you at market, Nic |
