I love this tractor..

This is a 1952 Farmall Super A cultivating tractor and I love it, isn't it beautiful and it will be even more beautiful and amazing when it is actually weeding at the farm. This tractor was built at the height of small farms and small farm technology and built to last. I have been trying to track down the various linkages which will allow us to hook up various tools for cultivating(weeding) which will be a huge jump in efficiency. I have worked with a smaller farmall cultivating tractor called a cub and it is a joy to drive over the row and look down and watch soo much work getting done. It is quite frightening to watch all this steel moving soo close to your precious little crops. The cool thing about this tractor is the offset seat, so you can look down and watch the belly mounted weeding implements do their thing. It is so great that if you have hand weeded for a couple years, it could actually make your cry :)
I wish I was showing you pictures of our draft horses, but unfortunately we didn't grow up knowing horses at all, so we use tractors, albeit sparingly on our farm. So yes we are a farm using the height of technology from 1952, the agribusinessmen would shame us, but it works perfectly for us and our scale, which is important.

On another note we will be harvesting swiss chard, kale, spinach, mache, and radishes from the hoophouse today for market tomorrow. So come on down to the opera galleria in old town ft. collins for the winter farmers market this saturday from 10am-3pm. The greens are deliciously sweet as they have been slowly growing through the winter and are full of sugars.

See you at market!
