We have a saying on the farm that "Time flies when you are growing food" and it is especially true this time of year as the days are long and yet the to do list is longer. You blink your eyes and a week goes by and the orchestra of our diversified farm rings on. We are nursing various rotations of things back to health from the hail storm and putting in new rotations of mid summer beets, carrots, salad, etc. The summer crops are flushing new leaves again and we have seen some blossoms on the recovering summer squash. This week starts the Old Town Farmers market and we are little sad as we were on track to have a dizzying array of offerings that have now been cut back to less than early early spring foods. But such is life in the high desert plains and with a changing climate. Adaptation is key. And we are adapting and working on structures and strategies for this year and the future that will allows us to get the good food to our good people. Thanks for sticking in there with us, your support is amazing and allows us to keep on going. We are back at Beavers this Wednesday so I hope to see your smiling faces at market! Nic |
